El Fant

El Fant, located in Helsinki’s historic Torikorttelit area, is a stylish café and natural wine bar designed by Yatofu. The interior features modern elements like a galvanised steel counter and a striking red pine communal table, with custom furniture from Finnish designers Puutamo and Paja & Bureau. El Fant serves specialty coffee from Good Life Coffee, with the signature brew being a rich, aromatic espresso. The café offers a carefully curated selection of natural wines from Let Me Wine, and we find it a very versatile spot, perfect for enjoying coffee by day and transitioning to wine in the evening. With its central location and cosy ambience, El Fant is ideal for any time of day.

Kaffa Roastery

Kaffa Roastery in the Punavuori area, established in 2010, features a spacious basement café and roastery. The cool interior includes a well-lit coffee bar and a glass-walled roasting area. Kaffa offers a range of filter beans prepared with V60, Aeropress or Syphon, alongside espresso drinks and iced coffees like espresso tonic. Their signature coffee, a Tanzania Ilomba V60, has warm berry flavours that deepen as it cools. The café also serves delicious pastries and sells their beans for home use. Kaffa is ideal for remote work, with a calm atmosphere enhanced by jazz music and low lighting.

Maja Coffee Roastery

Maja Coffee Roastery in Helsinki’s Lehtisaari district is a nano roastery and intimate café that we appreciate for its exceptional coffee and tranquil setting. The space features a minimalist design, with large windows allowing natural light to fill the café, creating a warm and inviting ambience. Guests can enjoy watching the coffee roasting process while sipping on Maja’s signature Ethiopian pour-over, known for its rich and complex flavours. The café offers a limited but delightful menu of raw cakes and artisanal toasted sandwiches, making it an excellent spot for a light, satisfying treat.
