CF Hill

What’s the art gallery in a nutshell?

CF Hill is an independent Stockholm gallery and art advisory that keeps one foot in the market and one in proper exhibition-making. Founded in 2015 by Anna-Karin Pusic, Michael Storåkers and Michael Elmenbeck, it now operates from Armémuseum’s East Pavilion, a setting that suits its taste for crisp staging and sharp sightlines. The programme tends to move fast, with openings that feel plugged into the city’s collector circuit as much as its museum crowd, without turning into a sales floor.

What is showcased?

The programme thrives on collisions: Swedish names that locals track closely, next to international artists with real pull. ‘Gazing Bodies’, which inaugurated the East Pavilion space, mixed artists such as Sarah Lucas, Karin Mamma Andersson, Marie-Louise Ekman, Karon Davis and Ulla Wiggen. The recurring ‘Ten by Ten’ format is a good entry point when you want range without sprawl, built around ten works placed in dialogue across time and place.

What is the architecture like?

CF Hill’s current home is Armémuseum’s East Pavilion, a late-1800s building with soaring vaulted ceilings, so the room naturally reads arched rather than boxy. It’s a strong fit for the programme: controlled light, clean walls and enough height to let large work breathe without the space feeling grand for its own sake. CF Hill uses the architecture as pacing – sightlines, pauses, then a tighter turn into the next room – which was clear from the inaugural exhibition ‘Gazing Bodies’.

What’s the neighbourhood like?

Östermalm in Stockholm, Sweden, is often perceived as the city’s most upscale yet subdued district. But beneath its refined exterior lies a dynamic scene. The district surprises with an array of chic bars, top-tier restaurants and boutique shops. Key attractions such as the renowned Östermalm Saluhall food hall, the impressive Royal Dramatic Theatre, the Bergius botanic garden and the expansive Humlegården park show that Östermalm successfully merges Stockholm’s historic charm with contemporary appeal.
