Panorama Landscape Hotel

What’s the hotel in a nutshell?

Panorama Landscape Hotel, envisioned by the acclaimed Finnish architect Sami Rintala of Rintala Eggertsson Architects, redefines the essence of a serene retreat. Perched atop a hill in Eastern Finland, near the Tahko ski resort, this novel establishment invites guests into the heart of the Finnish forest. Ten cabins, each a masterpiece of design inspired by the local wildlife like bears, lynxes and wolves, offer a unique stay. The hotel’s approach to luxury is unorthodox yet compelling, trading opulence for a raw, immersive experience in nature. Its distinct character is further cemented by its environmentally sensitive construction, ensuring a minimal footprint on the surrounding natural beauty.

What are the rooms like?

Each cabin at the Panorama Landscape Hotel is a haven of tranquillity and thoughtful design. The rooms, named after local fauna such as The Wolf, The Bear and The Moose, each tell a unique story. The Wolf, a 24-square-metre suite, offers a nest-like ambience with vast windows overlooking Lake Syväri. The Bear, at 34 square metres, plays with light through creatively shaped windows, providing an ever-changing perspective on the surrounding forest. The largest and our favourite, The Moose, spans 49 square metres and includes a fireplace, exuding warmth and grandeur. These cabins, with their shingle walls and grass roofs, offer an intimate dialogue with nature, marked by luxury and simplicity.

What else?

The hotel’s Lähde Forest Spa is a sanctuary of wellness, blending traditional bathing cultures with a modern twist. Its outdoor saunas and pools, fed by a natural spring, offer views over Lake Syväri, promising a rejuvenating experience. For culinary delights, the Havu Kitchen & Bar awaits with its Scandinavian purity and Eastern taiga influences, offering both breakfast and sophisticated dinner experiences. The hotel is an invitation to pause, relax and rediscover the joys of authenticity and nature’s embrace.

What’s the region like?

Northern Savonia, a region of stark contrasts and vibrant culture in the heart of Finland, beckons with its unique blend of nature and tradition. Home to the city of Kuopio, the region’s bustling hub, it offers a mosaic of experiences, from the tranquil shores of Lake Kallavesi to the lively Kuopio Market Square. This region is not just a geographical area; it’s a celebration of Finnish identity, where ancient folklore coexists with modern innovation. Visitors are drawn to the Valamo Monastery, a testament to spiritual heritage, and the mesmerising landscapes of Koli National Park. Known for its distinctive culinary delights, such as local fish dish kalakukko, Northern Savonia offers a taste of Finland’s heartland.
