Helenekilde Badehotel

Helenekilde Badehotel is a refreshing change in Denmark’s vast coastal landscape, a family-run sanctuary that emits a feeling of subdued sophistication. Constructed as a private residence in 1896, it has served as an escape for wealthy Copenhageners for over a century. The hotel is managed by former ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin (who also founded one of our absolute favourite Copenhagen boltholes, Hotel Sanders) and his family, who are experienced hoteliers with a clear understanding of their guests’ desires: a comfortable atmosphere, food that emphasizes local ingredients while disguising its complexity and staff who blend professionalism with informality. The guest rooms are in the classic coastal cottage style, featuring wicker furniture, jute floor coverings and high-quality linens.

Guests can indulge in the local gastronomy, with the chef drawing inspiration from the best Danish Michelin restaurants and using only the freshest locally sourced ingredients. Marienlyst Strandhotel, one of Denmark’s oldest and most iconic beach hotels, has been charming guests for over a century with its picturesque location and proximity to Kronborg Castle. But this historic gem is not content with resting on its laurels. Recently, the hotel has added a 1,600 square meter beach-themed spa, which was named Spa of the Year by the Danish Beauty Awards. The spa offers a combination of traditional spa experiences and innovative treatments, such as the one-of-a-kind cobber spa and the hay-infused Kraxenofen Massage. But it’s not just the facilities that make Marienlyst Strandhotel stand out, it’s also the high culinary level and personalised service that keeps guests coming back for more.

Stammershalle Badehotel

Located along the coast between Gudhjem and Tejn, Stammershalle Badehotel is just on the coast of Bornholm. This bright yellow building stands out amongst the typical white “badehoteller” and offers a unique experience with its scenic location near the rocky coastline, lovely rooms, and unique light. Visitors can take a refreshing dip in the sea just 150 meters from the hotel and enjoy views of the Baltic and Christiansø Island in the distance. The hotel’s gourmet restaurant is unique, too, with its friendly staff serving delicious modern dishes made from Bornholm ingredients and produce. The wine cellar beneath the lounge is also a great spot to enjoy a drink after a meal. The current owner and manager Frederik Falbe continue to uphold the original ethos of the venue, focused on visitors’ preferences, intimacy and pleasant experiences in a delightful atmosphere that will create happy memories.

Svinkløv Badehotel Fjerritslev Denmark seaside resort hotel

07

Svinkløv Badehotel

Svinkløv Badehotel is a seaside hotel that has undergone a rebirth, rising from the ashes like a phoenix. Built in 1925, this wooden hotel was one of the few of its kind in Denmark. However, a fire in 2016 left the hotel in ruins and many thought it was lost forever. But in 2019, the hotel re-opened its doors and it’s back and better than ever. The owners, Chef Kenneth Toft-Hansen and his wife, enlisted architecture firm Praksis to help rebuild and design the hotel. The interior is simple, casual, and unpretentious, yet modern and totally Insta-worthy. With a blue and white colour palette, sisal rugs, wooden accents, well-curated design furniture and stylish decorative accessories, this hotel is sure to be a hit with anyone who loves coastal décor and Scandinavian cool.
