What’s the hotel in a nutshell?

For urban kids looking to get out of Stockholm for a couple of days, Ellery Beach House is far enough from the city to get a dose of fresh air yet close enough if urban withdrawal symptoms were to occur. It is Sweden’s first and only beach club, and the place to go for leisurely days in the sun with multiple pools, fireplaces, saunas, cabanas, padel courts and an indoor and outdoor gym. You’ll feel as if you’re in Palm Springs thanks to the music, cocktails, cuisine, and activities.

What are the rooms like?

With all the activities available at Ellery Beach House, we doubt you’ll be spending extended periods of time in the hotel room. Regardless, all of the property’s 122 rooms are tastefully decorated with small touches of glam kitsch inspired by the 1960s and 1970s.

The hotel reception doubles as a lobby and lounge with a circular fireplace to gather around. For those who like to stay active, there are shuffleboards, ping pong tables and billiard tables, while idlers will prefer the Coco beach club with its comfy sunbeds and pools. The Bally Bar functions as an all-day living room and at Palmers restaurant, the Mediterranean cuisine is inspired by the Greek islands, buzzing food markets in Tel Aviv and Lebanese meze culture.

What’s the area like?

Lidingö is an island in the inner Stockholm archipelago just northeast of Stockholm. It has become something of a luxury area since wealthy noblemen and merchants started buying up the land from the native farmers in the mid-16th century. Forest paths, lush nature, and its proximity to downtown Stockholm make it a great day trip destination. This island has 45,000 residents and is known for the Millesgården sculpture museum and cross-country race, Lidingöloppet.
