Palace

Palace, located on the tenth story of a modernist structure built in 1952 for the Olympic Games, has breathtaking views of Helsinki’s harbour. This historic restaurant received Helsinki’s first Michelin star in 1987, which makes it especially significant that it received a second star in 2022. Chef Eero Vottonen presents a refined tasting menu produced with the best ingredients with the assistance of his staff. The chefs prepare delicate, exquisitely presented, and well-balanced dishes tableside using a fusion of Nordic cuisine with French and Japanese influences.

Demo

Restaurant Demo was established in 2003 and focuses on elegant cooking while providing a distinctive eating experience. Modern meals with a classic heart and an inventive fusion of textures and flavours are made with ingredients from Finland and Europe. Choose from a set menu of six or seven courses. In 2007, this down-to-earth restaurant received a Michelin star.

Finnjävel Salonki

At Finnjävel Salonki, diners are offered a unique restaurant experience, diving into Finnish culture with its food as well as its design and craftsmanship, as everything from the cutlery to the decanters is made by Finnish craftspeople. During the 1950s and 1960s, the derogative term Finnjävel was used in Sweden to refer to Finnish immigrants as the ‘Finnish devil’. But here, chefs Henri Alén and Tommi Tuominen have managed to reclaim the word and make it synonymous with ‘sisu’, a Finnish concept combining stamina, perseverance and ambition. The restaurant was awarded its Michelin star in 2021.

Grön

At Grön, the Swedish word for ‘green’, the youthful team of chefs pluck and forage their way through Finland to create the finest plant-based menu in Helsinki. One worthy of a Michelin star, no less. With an open kitchen and shelves stocked with fermenting foodstuffs, this cosy, passionately run restaurant offers a warm, inviting environment. Precise, modern cooking puts vegetables to the fore; ingredients are top-notch and purity is key. Dishes are brought to the table by the chefs themselves, and the natural wines are well-chosen.

Olo

Michelin-star restaurant Olo is located in the historic Lampa house, built in 1817. Overlooking the seafront and the Kauppatori market square, where fresh Finnish produce is traded all year round. The four elegant, monochrome dining rooms of the restaurant were designed by Haroma & Partners. Executive chef Jari Vesivalo leads patrons on a journey through modern Scandinavian cooking, raising produce such as potatoes from local farm Gobbas Gård, king crab from Honningsvåg in Norway and organic lamb from the island of Åland to inconceivable heights.
