Västergötland

Västergötland – region of a hundred manors

Västergötland has a long history of agriculture and is home to many large estates and manors. These estates were established in the region during the Middle Ages and today, many of these historic estates have been converted into museums, hotels and other attractions, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Sweden’s rich cultural heritage. From the rolling hills and pristine lakes to charming small towns like Falköping and Mariestad, visitors can enjoy a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life. With Gothenburg, the second-largest city in Sweden, located just to the west, visitors can easily explore the region’s many attractions and then enjoy the vibrant urban amenities of the city.
