What’s the store in a nutshell?
The Frama Studio Store is the showroom for the Scandinavian design company and interior design studio Frama. The store, which is located in the former St. Paul’s Apotek, a 19th-century apothecary that still has its original oak pharmaceutical cabinets and ornately painted ceilings, carries a variety of furniture, lamps, and homeware items that feature natural finishes and straightforward geometry. The space also houses Apotek 57, run by chef Chiara Barla, with a rotating menu of house-made seasonal foods and beverages.
What is the aesthetic of the brand?
Simple geometric shapes, the use of natural materials, and quality are all hallmarks of Frama’s work. This is how they continue to have the classic yet contemporary appearance for which they are renowned. The style is so alluring and aesthetically pleasing because of its simple and highly graphic approach to design.
What are the signature pieces?
Since Niels Stryer Christophersen founded Frama in 2011, we have admired the products the company releases. Initially, we were drawn to the brand’s eye-catching light bulbs, but more recently, we have come to appreciate its lamps, accessories, scents, and furniture pieces. Among our favourites are the ‘Ventus’ pendant lamps, ‘Adam’ stools, ‘Rivet’ aluminium shelves and ‘Frame’ room dividers.
What’s the neighbourhood like?
Copenhagen’s Indre By is the area bounded by the lakes circling the inner city and the harbour. This historic centre reflects the entire city’s extent during the reign of King Christian IV (1577-1648) when the town was fortified. It is home to most of Copenhagen’s museums and attractions. Strøget, the city’s famed pedestrian shopping street, runs right through it. If you’re new to the city, we recommend you start here, right at the heart of the bustling city, working your way outward to other neighbouring areas as you explore.
