Ett Hem

What’s the hotel in a nutshell?

Staying at Ett Hem – Swedish for ‘a home’ – feels like a home away from home. Since its opening in 2012, owner Jeanette Mix has perfected Ett Hem’s low-key yet elegant atmosphere that makes guests feel like part of the household. Housed in three neighbouring red-brick townhouses, Mix enlisted the help of Ilse Crawford in designing the 22-bedroom boutique hotel that also houses a lush patio garden and greenhouse, a cosy kitchen, a well-stocked library, a grand sitting room, a gym and a Hamam. The winter of 2022 and 2023 will see the opening of three residences for long-term stays.

What are the rooms like?

Crawford and her team have worked hard to preserve the character of each townhouse, resulting in a patchwork of accommodations – each with their unique style and size. We adore the 54 sq m Corner Suite with a four-poster bed, an open fireplace, a cocktail cabinet and a beautiful marble bathtub. The striking 70 sq m Attic Suite is Ett Hem’s most generous suite with original ceiling and wall decorations, a comfortable seating area, a fireplace and a beautiful writing desk by the window.

What else?

Ever been to a hotel where you can walk into the kitchen in your bathrobe, open the fridge, and take out whatever you fancy? Ett Hem proves that it does its utmost to make guests feel at home, and neither the kitchen nor the garden, the greenhouse, the library, or the sitting room are off-limits. Adding to this unique experience, Ett Hem now invites guests to its namesake restaurant, an intimate space seating just 30 patrons. Here, in the hands of head chef Leo Frodell and head sommelier Niklas Ödman, dining becomes an interactive spectacle, marrying the art of culinary finesse with the warmth of home. Chances are great you’ll never want to leave the premises during your stay.

What’s the neighbourhood like?

Östermalm in Stockholm, Sweden, is often perceived as the city’s most upscale yet subdued district. But beneath its refined exterior lies a dynamic scene. The district surprises with an array of chic bars, top-tier restaurants and boutique shops. Key attractions such as the renowned Östermalm Saluhall food hall, the impressive Royal Dramatic Theatre, the Bergius botanic garden and the expansive Humlegården park show that Östermalm successfully merges Stockholm’s historic charm with contemporary appeal.
