Seafood Gastro

What’s the restaurant in a nutshell?

Step into the world of Seafood Gastro, and you’re immediately enveloped by its distinctive allure. Located in the heart of Stockholm at the Grand Hôtel on Blasieholmskajen, this latest gastronomic venture by the renowned chef Mathias Dahlgren invites diners on a thrilling journey of aquatic discoveries. Occupying the space formerly known as Rutabaga, the freshly renovated venue isn’t just home to Seafood Gastro but also boasts ‘Private Dining by Mathias Dahlgren’, offering tailor-made meals for gatherings of up to 22 guests.

What are the signature dishes?

Seafood Gastro pushes the boundaries of what’s expected from a seafood restaurant. Beyond serving fishes and shellfish, the tasting menu delves into the broader aquatic realm, showcasing everything from ducks and other lake birds to unique fishes, shore-hugging plants and even algae. Mathias and his dedicated team have termed this expanded approach seafood in a broader sense. Each dish is a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality and creativity, ensuring that every ingredient – locally sourced from Scandinavia or procured from far-flung corners of the globe – is of the utmost quality.

Drinks, anyone?

Complementing this oceanic gastronomic adventure is the extensive wine collection housed at the Grand Hôtel, considered one of Northern Europe’s most significant wine cellars. Leading the beverage programme is Sunil Thalamcherry, the Head Sommelier, alongside Filipe Mendes, responsible for ensuring each glass pairs harmoniously with the dishes.

What’s the neighbourhood like?

Östermalm in Stockholm, Sweden, is often perceived as the city’s most upscale yet subdued district. But beneath its refined exterior lies a dynamic scene. The district surprises with an array of chic bars, top-tier restaurants and boutique shops. Key attractions such as the renowned Östermalm Saluhall food hall, the impressive Royal Dramatic Theatre, the Bergius botanic garden and the expansive Humlegården park show that Östermalm successfully merges Stockholm’s historic charm with contemporary appeal.
