Lillebrors Bageri is one of our personal favourites. The tiny bakery has a huge appeal. Famous for its 27-layer buttery croissants, the krämbulle and juicy cardamom buns, Lillebrors never fails to impress. These signature pastries, combined with their seasonal semlor, make every visit a treat. And if they have it, do get the toscabulle, a cardamom bun topped with caramel-coated nuts. The bakery’s cosy atmosphere, accentuated by its rustic wooden counter, offers a warm, inviting ambience. With queues often seen along the street, Lillebrors is renowned for quality pastries at reasonable prices.

Stora Bageriet
Stora Bageriet, boasting two locations in Stockholm, is a culinary gem with a deep historical root. The original bakery on Sibyllegatan, our preferred spot for lunch or a fika, is notable for being housed in the city’s oldest industrial building, a site with a history of supplying the military with fresh bread. Today, it is renowned for its breakfast and lunch offerings, along with its tranquil outdoor terrace, ideal for savouring a drink amidst the shade. Among its signature bakes, the morning buns and cardamom buns stand out, exemplifying the bakery’s expertise.

Fosch Artisan Pâtisserie
Located in Stockholm’s Östermalm area, this culinary gem is co-owned by Malin Eklund and Damien Foschiatti. Svedjans Bageri, established in 2020 by Alfred Hellström, brings a taste of northern Sweden to Stockholm’s Södermalm. The bakery sources all dairy from Hellström’s family farm in Västerbotten, ensuring every item is made with authentic, high-quality ingredients. Signature offerings include rich sourdough bread and beautifully crafted kanelbullar, which locals (and we) rave about for their perfect balance of cinnamon and sugar. The minimalistic design of the bakery, featuring natural wood elements, reflects its focus on simple, high-quality food. Despite its small size, Svedjans exudes a cosy atmosphere, with outdoor seating during warmer months enhancing the experience of enjoying rustic, farm-fresh baked goods.

Bergstrands bageri is located just a block or two from the buzzing Odenplan and is known for its artistry in both bread and pastry. The owners, Tobias and Sara Bergstrand, focus on organic, locally sourced ingredients, bringing out the best in their offerings. Whether you’re looking for an artisan loaf, a flaky croissant or something sweet, the craftsmanship is visible through large windows where you can watch the bakers at work. The seating may be limited inside, but come warmer weather, their outdoor setup is ideal for enjoying a sunny fika in a predominantly quiet residential area, in stark contrast to the busy Odenplan.

Tössebageriet
Tössebageriet has been a cornerstone of Stockholm’s baking scene for over a century.
