Sky’s the limit: Stockholm’s 10 ultimate rooftop restaurants and bars

Stockholm went from almost no rooftop culture to a skyline obsession in a few short years. Suddenly every hotel, food hall and Slussen corner wants altitude, views and a cocktail list. Fine, we’re in. Just choose your day well – this is still Sweden, not Dubai, whatever the terrace count suggests.

Pelago

Stockholm, Sweden

High above Katarinahuset, Pelago still sets the scale for Stockholm’s rooftop moment. Opened in May 2024 by the Gondolen circle, this summer restaurant and bar turns the top of Slussen into something between grill terrace, drinks deck and city lookout. The view does the first round of work: central Stockholm, the harbour, rooftops and water all spread out below. The food comes from the charcoal grill and smokehouse, with flavours moving through the Middle East, Argentina and beyond: lamb kofta, mushroom kebab, choripán and other open-fire plates. Add Stockholms Bränneri canned cocktails and the appeal is obvious.

Charles

Stockholm, Sweden

Bar Charles gives Stockholm’s rooftop scene something it needed: less generic sunset lounge, more old hotel mischief. Set on the rooftop of Radisson Collection Strand Hotel by the water, the bar revives a previously unused roof above a 1911–12 building and nods to Alexandra Charles, whose legendary nightclub Alexandra’s opened at the hotel in 1968. The pull is drinks, not dinner: signature cocktails, wine and a few well-chosen bites, with views over Djurgården, the archipelago entrance and the city skyline. Come when you want Stockholm to feel a little dressed up, but not stiff.

Tak Terassen

Stockholm, Sweden

Tak Bar & Terrace sits 52 metres above Brunkebergstorg, with one of central Stockholm’s most useful rooftop views and a format that can handle more than a sunset drink. The food and cocktails still work the Nordic-Japanese line, with local seasonal vegetables, Swedish meat, Nordic fish, sake, highballs and drinks built around Japanese and Nordic flavours. It is polished, busy and slightly corporate in the way big-city rooftops often are, but the location carries it: city roofs, water, warm-weather terrace energy and indoor space when Stockholm’s weather does what Stockholm weather does.

Café Klotet

Stockholm, Sweden

Café Klotet opened in 2024 at Slussen, the busy junction where ferries, metro lines, buses and roads connect central Stockholm. It sits high inside Katarinahuset, a landmark building between Södermalm – the city’s creative, restaurant-heavy island – and Gamla stan, Stockholm’s medieval old town. Run by Svenska Brasserier, one of Stockholm’s most influential restaurant groups, it shares its address with Gondolen, the city’s classic dining room with panoramic views. Under operations manager Bernard Horn Weitzberg, Klotet works as a tightly run rooftop café-bar: Mediterranean-leaning small plates, seafood, cocktails, wine and a terrace with serious views over the city. Go for oysters, something grilled, a cold glass and late afternoons that slide into dinner.

Arc Rooftop

Stockholm, Sweden

Arc Rooftop, on the 11th floor of Blique by Nobis in Vasastan, is still one of Stockholm’s more polished hotel rooftops: high views, late dinners, cocktails and a room that works even when the terrace is not the main event. The menu has shifted from the old Korean Ssäm headline towards broader Southeast Asian flavours, with dishes designed for sharing and enough spice, acidity and sweetness to make it more than a view stop. The terrace still gives the pull: Stockholm rooftops, Norra Tornen, golden-hour drinks and a crowd that feels more local than tourist-board glossy.

Le Hibou

Stockholm, Sweden

Le Hibou, on the top floor of Bank Hotel, is the rooftop for when Stockholm needs to feel polished without turning into a scene. The name means “the owl” in French, and the mood leans Parisian suite more than party terrace: plush indoor bar, composed cocktails and a terrace with views over the city. It works year-round because the indoor room carries as much weight as the outdoor space, which is exactly what many Stockholm rooftops get wrong. Go for a dressed-up drink before or after dinner, especially when you want view, comfort and grown-up pace.

Villa Dahlia Rooftop Bar

Stockholm, Sweden

Villa Dahlia’s Rooftop Bar gives Stockholm’s rooftop scene a useful change of altitude: not waterfront, not Slussen, not another obvious skyline stop. Perched above the Tegnérlunden park, on top of hotel Villa Dahlia in Vasastan, it is more of a tucked-away hotel terrace with proper city reach. The view stretches from Katarina Church to Hötorget, City Hall and Lake Mälaren, while the format stays simple: cocktails, wine, aperitivo and small plates when the weather allows. Come for a pre-dinner drink or a softer city-centre evening, especially if you like your rooftop with hotel polish but less obvious traffic.

Stockholm Under Stjärnorna

Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm Under Stjärnorna, usually shortened to SUS, is the city’s rooftop park rather than a polished terrace restaurant. Set 50 metres above Brunkebergstorg on top of the At Six hotel, it trades intimacy for scale: open skies, 360-degree views, bars, food, live music, DJ sets and outdoor cinema when the weather plays along. The menu keeps things casual, with street-food-inspired dishes, cocktails, beer and wine built for grazing between events rather than sitting down for a serious dinner. It is fun, loud and occasionally messy in the best way, which is exactly why it still earns its place.

Spesso

Stockholm, Sweden

Spesso gives Stockholm a proper indoor rooftop restaurant as well as a warm-weather terrace. Set on the 12th floor above Malmskillnadsgatan, it looks out across the city through panoramic windows, with Italian flavours, long lunches, late dinners, aperitivo, sparkling wine and cocktails doing most of the work. In spring and summer, the rooftop terrace becomes the sharper draw, with snacks, drinks and wide views across Stockholm’s rooftops. It is central, polished and built for after-work drift rather than destination dining, but that is exactly the point. Come when you want the city below and the evening open.

Takparken

Stockholm, Sweden

Takparken by Urban Deli is the least precious rooftop in this list, which is also its strength. Set on the ninth floor above Hotel With Urban Deli and the Sveavägen restaurant, it works less like a terrace bar and more like an urban park in the sky: greenery, wooden walkways, loungers, outdoor bars, open corners and 360-degree views over Stockholm. The food is casual and pulled from Urban Deli’s all-day ecosystem downstairs, so come for drinks, grazing and a loose city-centre mood. Höjden, the glass cocktail bar, keeps the rooftop useful beyond peak summer.
