The studio, showroom and boutique are creative consultant and interior designer Oliver Gustav’s own sublime take on the world, creating a carefully curated interplay between opposing elements, textures, the light and shadows, and the rich and austere.
What is the aesthetic of the brand?
In Museumsbygningen, a neoclassical edifice built as a private art gallery for Johan Hansen in the early 20th century, self-taught Gustav invites you into his monochrome universe. But Studio Oliver Gustav is not monochrome in the way you’d expect from a Scandi boutique – it is a rich, layered and refined monochromatic aesthetic that is anything but colourless and dull.
What are the signature pieces?
Gustav challenges local sensibilities by amalgamating the Danish – designs by Poul Kjærholm, sculptures by Kaare Sebastian Golles and a special edition Arne Jacobsen Drop Chair, as well as his own line of sofas and tables – with the international – including work from Faye Toogood, Apparatus, Rick Owens, Michaël Verheyden, Jan Janssen and Vicenzo De Cotiis.
